How to use the site:

The site is split into a number of areas, which can be accessed using the menu options on the left-hand side of your screen. A brief outline of each function is outlined below:

Data Search Options - This area has been developed to allow you to search for information based on a number of predefined search options. The data source relates to cars currently available as "New".

Useful Text (English) - This area seeks to outline the potential impact of the car on the environment and what can be done to reduce this. The text seeks to explain the relative merits of different fuel types and explains how the fuel consumption test is conducted.

Useful Text (Welsh) - This is a Welsh language version of the English text.

VED Calculator – This area allows you to enter the details of a car you may be considering and to establish the amount of Vehicle Excise Duty which might be payable. Again, it should be noted that the data source only relates to “New” cars, i.e. those currently being offered for sale.

Data Download Area – This area contains downloadable information relating to the periodic paper version of the data contained on this site. Data is available in Excel, CSV or as an Access database. You are also able to request hard copies of the latest booklet through this area.

FAQs – This area contains some frequently asked questions, which may help to address issues you might have. The area also contains a Glossary of Terms used.

Useful Contacts – This area provides you with some useful links to related areas of interest.
